GENERAL CLUB INFORMATION

East Kilbride Amateur Swimming Club

This page has been produced to provide some basic information about East Kilbride Amateur Swimming Club (E.K.A.S.C.) for new members and their parents.

Introduction

The club was formed in 1969 and is an independent organisation with its own constitution; however the club does receive some support from South Lanarkshire Leisure (SLL) and East Kilbride Sports Council.
E.K.A.S.C. exists to promote the sport of competitive swimming and its structure is geared to that end. It is not in the business of teaching non-swimmers to swim but rather to improve the capabilities of those who can already swim to enable them better to compete and enjoy the sport.
The club is affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association (S.A.S.A.), West District and East Kilbride Sports Council.

Facilities and Training Times

Training sessions take place at both the Dollan Aqua Centre (D.A.C.) and Strathaven Leisure Centre.
Details of all training sessions are dependant on a swimmers squad/coach.
Details of training times are available on the notice board and the club web site.
Any changes to regular training times (i.e. holidays) will be advertised on the notice board and web site; www.ekasc.co.uk

Admission to D.A.C. and Strathaven Leisure Centre

It is a condition of E.K.A.S.C. membership that members must have a South Lanarkshire Leisure Annual User Card which is available at a discount to E.K.A.S.C. members. Details are available from the Annual User Card Scheme Convenor.
Swimmers who are on their trial period MUST pay the usual swim admission charge to the DAC or Strathaven Leisure Centre at reception.

Notice boards

The Club has a notice board at the DAC situated on the first floor to the right of the changing rooms. The notice board is the main means of communication with members.

The club also has a notice board at Strathaven Leisure Centre situated opposite the entrance to the changing village.

Entries Policy

The coaching staff have sole responsibility for deciding who swims in competition, when, where and what events.

A swimmer who has indicated availability and subsequently doesn't swim in an event will be required to pay a missed swim fee. (The entry fee per swim missed is dependant on the level of competition)
